| For Immediate Release Legacy Foundation Grant Awards for Spring 2008 Lake County, Indiana (April 25, 2008) The Legacy Foundation Board of Directors approved grants totaling $41,429 for the following projects: Association for the Wolf Lake Initiative - $2,500 challenge grant opportunity from the Environmental Fund for Lake County in support of three public festivals held annually. They are the Bi-State Wetlands, Wind and Water Festival, the Active Living Faire, and the Winter Wonderland at Wolf Lake. Metropolitan Oasis Community Development Corporation - $5,790 from the Lake County Community Fund for the installation and implementation of a more efficient clinical and reporting system. Gary Community Health Center - $10,000 from the Lake County Community Fund to support a collaboration between the Gary Community Health Center, Purdue University Calumet School of Nursing, the Northwest Indiana Area Education Center, and Sojourner Truth House to launch the Medical Home for the Homeless project. Highly Flavored Ministry, Inc. - $4,000 from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Donor Advised Fund to conduct and administer a Social Justice Leadership Program for teenage residents of Gary, Indiana. Linden House of Hobart - $8,135 from the Maria Reiner Hobart Senior Citizens Fund to obtain new senior “friendly” furniture for residents to use in the library and lobby areas. Rebuilding Together Hobart/Lake Station - $5,000 from the Maria Reiner Hobart Senior Citizens Fund to provide repairs to homes of Senior citizens. Healthcare Advocacy Group, Inc. - $10,000 from the Maria Reiner Hobart Senior Citizens Fund to offer the Prescription Assistance Program which does research on economical drug access for any Hobart Senior needing assistance.
