Indiana University Northwest Non-Profit Institute Through funding from Lake Area United Way, the Indiana University Northwest Non-Profit Institute has been established to begin to fulfill needs identified in the 2004 LAUW State of Giving Report, 2004 NWI Quality of Life Indicators Report, and 2005 Center on Philanthropy/SPEA NW Region Nonprofits: Scope and Dimensions Report. The Institute operates under the auspices of the Center for Regional Excellence and is in partnership with Lake Area United Way, GRANTS, Inc. and the Northwest Indiana Quality of Life Council. As many already are aware, although there are excellent non-profit organizations in the area, our region has lacked a systematic approach in its non-profit sector to provide research, education, training, grantsmanship, and a variety of cooperative relationships.
