This year, the Great Lake Award Initiative becomes an integrated, experiential, nonprofit leadership program designed to facilitate change in participating organizations. Nonprofit Teams that qualify for participation will have already secured a training and capacity building award with a market value of $1,000.

Participating nonprofit organizations will experience:
- A guided workshop in organizational self-assessment
- Non-profit leaders as peer mentors
- Three additional training sessions with Andy Robinson

In addition, participating nonprofit organizations will receive:
- A copy of Benchmarking Your Organization’s Development, a workbook by the Institute for Conservation Leadership
- Workbooks and materials for all participants
- Reference book
- Special funding opportunities
In 2008, up to 25 teams will have this exceptional opportunity to build their organization’s capacity through training and technical assistance. An organization’s team must include the Executive Director, a board member and a staff member. If your organization has minimal or no staff, you may include an additional board member or a seasoned volunteer. In addition, your organization must include with its Application/Statement of Commitment; 1) A list of the Board of Directors and Officers including professional affiliations and individual addresses, 2) A copy of the most current fiscal year financial statements of the organization, and 3) A copy of the IRS Determination Letter designating federal tax exempt status. requirements will be selected for program participation. Applications with original signatures may be faxed or e-mailed as long as originals are in the Legacy Office by 5p.m. on February 20, 2008.
