Arc BRIDGES
Arc BRIDGES founded in 1952 as a not-for-profit organization and today serves over 700 individuals on a daily basis in one of four community centers located in Gary, Crown Point, Highland and Hobart or in the community. We operate 30 group homes in Lake and Porter County serving 143 consumers with all levels of disabilities and supports another 63 individuals in their own homes and provide respite services for families in their own homes. Arc BRIDGES’ clients have won the Indiana Association for Persons in Supportive Employment Awards 5 of the last 6 years and have won the National Award the past two years. We continue to work for our consumers by meeting with local, state and national leaders to pass laws that will help individuals with developmental disabilities have a better quality of life. Arc BRIDGES is The Arc affiliate in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties, is accredited by CARF (formerly the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and is licensed and certified by the Indiana Facilities Council. Catholic Charities Diocese of Gary
Catholic Charities Diocese of Gary established an endowment fund with Legacy Foundation in 1996. This early fund was a vote of confidence in the ability of Lake County’s Community Foundation to bring expertise and visibility for the operating needs of this nonprofit organization. Additional gifts are encouraged.
Franciscan Community St. Anthony Campus
Franciscan Community St. Anthony Campus is a designated fund established by the organization to provide fiscal oversight, investment expertise and visibility for the benefit of this mission. Additional gifts are encouraged.
Friends of Planned Parenthood Lake/Porter Counties
Friends of Planned Parenthood Lake and Porter County was established by several local donors as a means to support the local activities of this organization.
Samaritan Counseling Center
Samaritan Counseling Center encourages clients to draw on their spiritual beliefs for comfort and support as they work through issues. The Samaritan Counseling Center is a non-for-profit counseling center that provides counseling for individuals, couples and families experiencing stressful situations such as depression, marital conflict, separation and divorce, parent and child concerns, loss of a loved one, school problems, anxiety, physical and sexual abuse, premarital counseling and drug and alcohol problems. The center has offices in Crown Point, Griffith, DeMotte, Lake of the Four Seasons, Munster and Lowell.
Hospice of the Calumet Area
Hospice of the Calumet Area is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life through compassionate care for individuals and families facing an end of life illness. Gifts are welcome in support of this mission.
Lake Area United Way
The Lake Area United Way of Trustees restructured the organization in 2001-2002 to become more responsive to a changing region. An advisory council was formed called the Vision Council, which is charged with assessing community needs and working with the Allocations Committee in directing resources to meet those needs. Four fields of service were identified; Youth Development, Individual and Family Wellness, Community Building, and Crisis Intervention.
Your contribution to United Way’s Endowment Fund will be targeted to these areas of need and you are helping to: counsel and provide shelter to battered spouses, find residential care and employment opportunities for mentally and physically challenged adults, feed an unemployed family, provide seniors with food and socialization, care for children in a safe and educational environment.
Meals on Wheels of NWI
The mission of Meals on Wheels is to improve the quality of life of the elderly, ill and disabled homebound persons in need and to increase their nutritional health by delivering nutritious meals utilizing community volunteers. Your support of this fund will assist Meals on Wheels in meeting this important mission for generations to come.
Salvation Army of Lake County
The Salvation Army of Lake County is the local branch of an international evangelical movement of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Supporting this fund will support the Salvation Army’s mission in Lake County Indiana.
TradeWinds Endowment
TradeWinds Endowment is a permanent fund to support the organization’s activities. TradeWinds provides services and training for children and adults with wide ranging abilities. Children’s services include assessment, physical therapy, occupational therapy, developmental therapy, speech therapy, service coordination, nursing service, home based services, childcare services, and social work. Adult services provide people with disabilities the opportunity to increase their independence in living and working in the community. TradeWinds Affirmative Industries offers commercial subcontracting services to businesses and industries throughout the region whether it is packaging and assembly needs, contract sewing, or designing and creating signage for companies.
Visiting Nurse Endowment
Visiting Nurse Endowment was established in 2000 by the Visiting Nurse Foundation, which in turn was established in 1985 to support the long-term viability of the Visiting Nurse Association. The Visiting Nurse Association was founded in 1904 to provide well baby care and grew to provide a wide array of home nursing care in order to allow its clients to live independently and with dignity in the their own homes. Although the Visiting Nurse Association no longer exists as a private entity, the organization’s mission continues through visiting nurses who operate out of the home health care department at Methodist Hospitals. To support its mission, gifts may be made to the Visiting Nurse Endowment.
