Their goal was to create a way for people of all means to be able to give back to their community. Since 1992 Legacy Foundation has been connecting community members, nonprofits and other partners to strengthen Lake County through philanthropy. Legacy Foundation receives gifts from individuals, corporations and organizations. These gifts are placed in endowment funds. These funds are then invested to generate earnings. Legacy Foundation uses these earning to distribute grants to a variety of non-profit programs, organizations and other community-oriented charitable efforts that benefit Lake County residents, and scholarship to local students. Today, we work with more than 240 individual funds representing over $33 million. Since 1992 we have granted over $20 million back to benefit our community through grants and scholarships. Legacy Foundation, Inc. is a not for profit, 501(c)(3) organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is selected to represent a broad spectrum of diversity in the areas we serve, and are committed to looking for ways in which to identify emerging issues, stimulate resources to address those needs and help our community prepare for the future. The Board of Directors establishes the policies and procedures of the Foundation and ensures the Foundation has the funding, staff, facilities and resources to fulfill its mission. The generosity of donors, the vision of our Directors, and dedication of our professional staff and many volunteers are what enables Legacy Foundation to continually respond to the changing needs of our community.
